Knowing God by J.I. Packer
In his book Knowing God Dr. J.I. Packer gives 6 Common Pitfalls we encounter when seeking/not seeking guidance:
1. Unwillingness to Think
2. Unwillingness to Think Ahead
3. Unwillingness to Take Advice
4. Unwillingness to Suspect Oneself
5. Unwillingness to Discount Personal Magnetism
6. Unwillingness to Wait
I can say at some point I have been guilty of some if not all of these pitfalls. A few simple verses that we all know can really help us in these times.
Psalm 37:4-5 Delight thyself also in the Lord; And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; Trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Proverb 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.
